Aero club "Željava" from Bihać, has founded on November 11, 2019 in Bihać, and registered at the Ministry of Justice and Administration - Una Sana Canton, as the Association of Aero Club "Željava" Bihać. Adress of the club headquarters is Bosanske nezavisnosti 9, 77000 Bihać, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The president of the club is mr. Dževad Mešić, SPL pilot. The Aero club has 22 active members and is organized through the flying and modeling section. We currently owns KA8 glider, an APOOLLO motor-hangglider and Solo210 paramotor.
The main goal and objective of the Club is to develop and promote aviation, aviation sports and aviation-related technical culture in all areas of aviation activities. To achieve the goals of developing aviation sports and aviation-related technical culture, as well as overall activities, Club performs the following activities:
- works on the creation and development of younger generations of aviators, aviation sport generally, and aviation culture of children, youth and citizens
- within the Aviation Association of BiH, expresses views and opinions on the competition system and actively participates in its creation and implementation
- organizes sport events on municipal, cantonal ,state and international level, based on established criteria and sport calendar, such as Aviation sport meetings, Aero rafts, etc.
- determines the criteria and measures for financing the implementation of training and sports programs
- organizes the acceptance of General aviation (GA) and Ultralight (UL) aircrafts , cooperates with other clubs, associations and organisations in the field of sport, tourism etc.
Federal government at one of its sessions, made a decision to grant a part of the former military airbase Željava to Aero club Željava. The priority of the club is the revival of the airport and putting it into function as a sport airfield. So far, club has launched a series of activities aimed at creating a future Aviation center at Željava.
